Having what seems to be the normal or minimum three phones on a plan, mine all being iPhones with iPads included, I find myself enjoying teaching family and friends how to operate their iOS devices. Things are always changing and updates being made to the iOS which means I always have to stay on top of the changes. One of the most important things I've found is making sure that all my iOS devices are in sync. When the iMessages came on board I was excited about getting all my messages across my devices. I know it may sound silly but when you think about the possibilities, lol, well lets just say that if I'm on my iPad I sure don't want to run grab my iPhone to see all the messages that I missed when I could have received them conveniently on my iPad. I can even have them sent over to my iMessages on my desktop. So keeping it cool, I put together some info that could help just in case I'm not available. So to set up your iPhone here's a few simple instructions I collectively gathered.
-
First
Go to Settings and tap Messages.
Next
Turn on iMessage and tap “Use your Apple ID for iMessage.”
Note: iPhone screens shown. On an iPad and iPod touch, you won’t see the screen on the right, you’ll go straight to the Sign In screen below
Enter your Apple ID and password. - Any phone number and all email addresses associated with your Apple ID will be displayed.Note: A phone number will be displayed only if you are setting up your iPhone, or if you are setting up another iOS device after you’ve set up your iPhone
Tap Next
Last
Tap Send & Receive.
-
Under “Start new conversations from,” choose the email address or phone number you’d like to use to send outgoing messages. If you’ve already set up other devices for Messages, they’ll alert you that a new device has been set up for Messages.Note: iPhone screens shown. iPad and iPod touch screens have the same options shown but differ in appearance.
